The Samsung Exynos 2300 was an intriguing yet ultimately canceled SoC that featured a unique 9-core CPU configuration. This setup included one high-performance Cortex-X3 core running at up to 3.09 GHz, four Cortex-A715 cores at 2.65 GHz for balanced performance, and four Cortex-A510 cores, with a maximum frequency of 2.1 GHz, aimed at enhancing energy efficiency.
Despite its cancellation, a chip with a very similar 1+4+4 configuration was spotted in a mysterious Samsung device identified by the model number SM-S919O on Geekbench. Although the reported CPU frequencies differed slightly from those initially expected—common in pre-production hardware—the core configuration was more indicative of the Exynos 2300’s capabilities.
Notably, this chip was rumored to incorporate a GPU design based on AMD’s RDNA2 architecture, which would have represented a significant advancement in graphics processing for Samsung’s line of SoCs.
